- Soft plum and mauve resin, with the colour cast through each panel and the dark outlines moulded in
- A quiet, low light for a bedside table or the end of a bookshelf
- The fine legs, the tucked frame and the tilted head of a very small dog paying attention
- Light enough for a narrow shelf, steady enough to leave where it is
You didn't choose her. She sat down next to you and that was that.
You went to look. You were not going to come home with anything, and you certainly weren't going to come home with the smallest one. Then she picked her spot against your leg and settled, and the decision had rather been made for you. Every small dog owner has some version of that afternoon.
- The head tilt she does when you say her name in a certain way
- A shape you'd know in the dark, from the doorway, half asleep
- Something with her in it that isn't a photograph in a drawer
One size, about 15 cm tall — small enough for a sill, big enough to notice. It usually ends up in the room where she sleeps.
Why the things people keep to remember a dog don't quite manage it
STIFF
A resin ornament
Painted on the outside to match a breed standard, and solid all the way through. It has the proportions right, none of the character, and nothing at all to give once the light goes off.
FADES
A framed print or photo
It works, until the sun gets at it. And a frame on a wall is something you stop seeing after the first month.
PUT AWAY
A paw print or keepsake box
Precious, and it lives in a cupboard because it's too personal to leave out. You have to go and find it to feel anything.
JUST A LAMP
A plain bedside lamp
It gives light and asks nothing of you. It's also the same lamp that's in every spare room in the country.
Something you can have out every day, rather than something you keep somewhere safe.
What it's actually made of
Cast resin, not a printed panel
The colour goes right through the resin rather than being painted or printed on the surface, and the dark outlines between the panels are moulded in as part of the piece — so lit up it reads in separate blocks of colour, not as a picture on plastic. It's lighter than leaded glass too, and it won't chip or crack if it goes off the edge of a shelf.
Drawn in small panels, because she's a small dog
The plums deepen at the back and the crown of the head and thin out to pale cream at the muzzle, the chest and the fine front legs. The head is set at a slight tilt and the eyes are moulded dark and round, which is what stops it looking like a generic little dog and makes it look like one that's listening.
A base that keeps it upright
Weighted and flat, so a delicate-looking lamp doesn't feel precarious on a bedside table.
Cast resin with a stained-glass finish · USB cable · one size, approx. 15 × 10 × 15 cm · wipe clean with a dry, soft cloth
Just how little is she?
Little enough for a windowsill — here she is lit beside a mug, which is about the fairest comparison there is.

Common questions
How much light does it actually give?
Enough to sit with, not enough to read by. It's the sort of light you leave on last thing, when the main light has gone off and you're not quite ready for the dark.
How is it powered?
It runs from a USB cable, so it plugs into any USB adapter, a laptop or a power bank — whichever is closest to the bedside table.
How big is it?
About 15 cm tall and 15 cm wide, and 10 cm front to back — roughly one and a half times the height of a mug, which suits a dog this size. It sits happily on a windowsill, a bedside table or a shelf. Measurements are approximate and vary a little between designs.
How do I look after it?
Dust with a dry, soft cloth, or a soft brush along the panels. No solvents, polishes or harsh sprays — they'll take the finish off the resin.
Where does it suit best?
Somewhere quiet and close to hand — a bedside table, a bookshelf, a landing. It's a lamp for the end of the day rather than the middle of the room.
Is it packed properly for delivery?
Yes — cushioned and boxed. Being resin rather than glass, it won't shatter on the way, which makes it a far calmer thing to post. If it arrives damaged, send us a photo and we'll make it right.
Can I return it?
You have 30 days to change your mind. Contact us and we'll arrange the return.
What customers are saying
★★★★★
Hilary N., 66
"The head tilt is exactly right. My Pip does that when he thinks the word 'walk' is coming. It's on the bedside table and it's the last thing I turn off."

Bernadette C., 73
"Softer colours than I expected and all the better for it. I lost my little one in the spring and this doesn't feel sad to have out, which is what I wanted."
