Pressed tufting versus sewn tufting
A lot of tufted cushions are embossed — the diamonds are heat-pressed into the surface. They look right for a month. Then the cover is washed, the heat releases, and the pattern you paid for simply isn't there any more.
Sewn tufting is stitched through the face. It cannot come out, it holds its depth after a wash, and it is the reason this cushion still throws a shadow across the diamonds a year in.
