Common questions
Can copper leave a green mark on the skin?
Yes, sometimes, and we'd rather set that out plainly. The acids naturally in skin react with copper and can leave a faint green tint where the band rests. It's entirely harmless — a mark on the surface rather than a rash — and washes away with soap in a few seconds. Warm weather and damp skin make it more likely. The clear lacquer on the inner face of the cuff reduces it a good deal.
He has a nickel allergy — is this safe for him?
Here we have to be careful, because this piece has two finishes rather than one. The copper body contains no nickel. What we cannot certify is the composition of the black finish on the other face — we don't have an assay for it, and we won't claim one we haven't got. If his nickel allergy is a serious one, choose an all-copper piece instead: the Mist, the Mill or the Nettle are plain copper throughout with nothing applied over them.
Will it do anything for his joints or his circulation?
No. Copper bracelets have been run through randomised, placebo-controlled trials and performed no better than identical dummy bracelets — no effect on arthritis, joint pain, inflammation or circulation.
