Most jewellery is sold to you as a consumable

It's a wear layer with a life expectancy — a few microns of colour over a cheaper metal, priced on the quiet assumption that you'll replace the whole thing in a year or two when it goes patchy. Moving to "surgical" stainless steel
It sounds like the safe answer, and for some people it is. But most stainless steels contain nickel as part of the alloy, and some grades release enough of it to bother a sensitive wrist. "Surgical" isn't a guarantee of anything about nickel — it's a description of a family of steels.
THE POLISH

It works once and it costs you. Polishing removes metal, and on a plated bracelet the metal you're removing is the plating — the thin bit you needed. Every clean-up brings the base metal a little nearer the surface.

How Timber is made
A feather with room to lie
The band is wide enough for the feather to be engraved at a slight angle across it rather than squeezed along a narrow strip — so the shaft has a proper curve to it and the barbs have somewhere to go.
Cut by hand, barb by barb
Every barb is a separate stroke of the tool. None of them are quite the same length or angle, which is exactly why it reads as a feather rather than as a pattern of lines.

Common questions
Does it leave a green mark on the skin?
It can. Copper reacts with the natural acids in your skin, and that reaction can leave a faint green tint beneath the band — more likely in warm weather or over hand cream and perfume. It's harmless, it's a mark and not a rash, and it washes off with soap and water in seconds. If you'd rather not see it at all, paint a thin coat of clear lacquer inside the band; it cuts it right down and takes a minute to redo occasionally.
How is this different from your other feather bracelet?
Fair question, and worth answering honestly — they share a motif. Timber is the wider of the two, with the feather laid at an angle across the band so it's read as a whole shape at a glance. The other sits on a narrower band with the feather running along its length, so it's a quieter, more linear piece. If you want the feather to be the thing people notice, this is the one.
Should I let it go dark or keep it bright?
Entirely up to you, and people split about evenly. Left alone, the copper deepens to a warm brown and the engraved lines go darker still, which makes the feather more legible. Kept polished, it stays pink-gold and the feather reads as fine bright lines. A copper polish or lemon juice with a pinch of salt switches between the two whenever you fancy.
Is a wide band comfortable for all-day wear?
Yes — the width is spread along the top of the wrist rather than around the narrow part, and the edges are smoothed so nothing digs in. Being open at the back, it isn't a closed ring gripping your wrist; it rests rather than clamps.
