Common questions
I've heard copper marks your skin green. Is that true?
It can happen, and we'd rather say so up front than pretend it never does. Your skin's own acids react with the metal and can leave a light green tint underneath the band. There is nothing harmful about it — it's a mark on the surface, not a rash — and soap and water remove it in seconds. Warm days and damp hands make it more likely. The clear lacquer along the inside of the cuff reduces it noticeably.
Is this meant to do anything for pain or stiffness?
No. Copper bracelets have been tested properly against dummy bracelets and no benefit was found for arthritis, joint pain, inflammation or circulation. We know plenty of shops leave that question hanging on purpose. We'd rather answer it honestly and sell you the Nettle for what it genuinely is — a well-made piece of solid metal.
Will one size really fit my wrist?
The cuff is open behind the wrist, so it isn't a fixed circumference. It goes over the narrow part of the wrist and then closes gently to you. Adjust with small, patient squeezes rather than one big bend and it will settle exactly where you want it.
How do I keep it looking bright?
A soft cloth and half a minute is usually all it takes. If it has gone properly dark and you want the glow back, lemon juice with a pinch of salt on a cloth works well between the twists; rinse it and dry it fully afterwards. Many people leave it to darken, which suits the twisted shape particularly well.
Is it safe if I'm sensitive to nickel?
There's no nickel in it, which removes the usual cause. Copper itself upsets a small minority of people, so start with a short wear if you haven't worn copper before and see how your skin gets on.
