Does it leave a green mark?
Sometimes it does. The green comes from copper meeting the natural acid on your skin and it stays on the surface — a mark, not a rash, and nothing to worry about. Soap and water removes it in a matter of seconds. Some people never see it at all; others notice it in summer and not in winter. The clear lacquer inside the band reduces it, and so does taking the bracelet off at night.
Is copper meant to be good for you?
It is widely claimed, and it is not true. Copper bracelets have been compared with identical dummy bracelets in randomised placebo-controlled trials and made no difference to arthritis, joint pain, inflammation or circulation. The band is open at the back. You ease it over the side of the wrist and it settles where it is comfortable. For a closer fit, press the gap in a little with your fingers; to loosen it, ease it out the same way. Small movements, done slowly, since copper is soft.
How should I clean it?
A soft dry cloth most of the time. It will go a deep warm brown with wear, which is what copper does and what a lot of people are buying it for. If you want the bright finish back, copper polish or a cut lemon with a little salt will do it in under a minute.
