How Swale is made

One solid metal all the way through. Nothing is plated over anything, which is why there is no coating to wear off and no nickel-bearing base metal hiding underneath. Copper is also naturally antimicrobial as a property of the metal itself.
Four bands, one wrap
Each band is formed on its own, then all four are coiled together by hand with round-nose pliers. Done slowly, a little at a time, so the spiral sits evenly instead of bunching at the back.

Common questions
Will it leave a green mark on the finger?
It can, and we would rather be straight with you. Copper reacts with the natural acids and salts on skin, and some people get a faint green tint where it sits. It is harmless — a mark, not a rash — and soap and water remove it in seconds. It is more likely in warm weather or over hand cream. If you would rather avoid it entirely, a thin coat of clear lacquer or clear nail varnish inside the band reduces it a great deal, and can be redone as it wears.
Does copper do anything for aches or joints?
No. Copper bracelets and rings have been tested in randomised, placebo-controlled trials and no effect was found. We would rather lose the sale than say otherwise. Choose Swale because it is solid nickel-free metal, coiled by hand, that fits without a size — all of which is true.
How do I adjust it?
Hold the coil between finger and thumb at the two hearts and ease them gently apart to loosen, or together to tighten. Small movements, trying it on as you go. It takes seconds and can be done as often as you like.
Do the hearts catch on things?
They sit close to the band and are smoothed off at the edges, so in normal wear they don't snag on knitwear. They are the highest point of the ring, though — if you are doing something rough, gardening or the like, it is worth taking it off, as you would with any ring.
What size should I order?
