Could it turn her wrist green?
It is possible, and we would rather tell you now than have it be a surprise on a birthday. Copper reacts with the natural acids in skin and can leave a faint green tint underneath the band. It is harmless — a mark rather than a rash — and it washes off with soap and water in seconds. It is more likely in warm weather or over hand cream. The clear lacquer inside the band reduces it to a minimum.
Is copper supposed to be good for arthritis?
It is very often sold that way, and the evidence says no. Copper bracelets have been tested against identical dummy bracelets in randomised placebo-controlled trials and made no difference to arthritis, joint pain, inflammation or circulation. Will the hearts fade?
