How the coil is made
Three bands, one continuous length
It isn't three rings soldered together — it's a single piece of copper wound round three times. There are no joins in it, which is why there's no weak point waiting to fail where two bands would have been fixed to each other.
Shaped on the mandrel by hand
The coil is formed on a tapered mandrel, turn by turn, rather than pressed in a die. It's what gives the three bands their slight individuality and what keeps the inside smooth, so nothing rubs when you turn it on your finger.
99.9% pure copper, no nickel
One metal all the way through, with nothing plated on top — which matters more on a ring than anywhere else, because a ring spends its life in water. No nickel either. Common questions
Will it leave a green mark on my finger?
It can, and a ring is the piece most likely to — a finger is warm and the band is in contact all the way round. It's the copper reacting with the natural acids in your skin: harmless, a mark rather than a rash, and it washes off with soap and water in a few seconds. Hand cream and hot weather both make it more likely. If you'd rather not have it at all, paint a thin coat of clear nail lacquer round the inside of the coil and redo it every few months.
What ring size do I need?
None. It's a coil, so you slide it on and press it gently until it sits where you want it — and you can change that whenever you like. Adjust it a little at a time rather than in one firm squeeze, and turn it as you go so all three bands move together.
Can I wear it while I'm working?
It's made for that — there are no stones and no raised setting to snag on gloves or catch in a pocket. We'd still take it off for anything heavy, as you would with any ring, but for gardening, cooking and everyday work it's about as unfussy as a ring gets.
Is there any nickel in it?
No. It's 99.9% pure copper with nothing plated over it. Nickel is the most common jewellery contact allergen there is, and there is none in this ring.
It's gone dark — can I bring it back?
Whenever you want. A little lemon juice and salt on a soft cloth, rubbed over the coil and then rinsed and dried, has it bright in about a minute. Because the copper goes all the way through there's no coating to wear away, so you can do it as often as you like — or leave it to go deep and warm, which many people prefer on this one.
