What the ring is, and how it was made
99.9% pure copper
A single solid metal — not a copper-coloured coat over something cheaper. There is no plating layer, because there is nothing underneath to hide. Copper is also naturally antimicrobial as a property of the metal itself.

Common questions
Will it leave a green mark on my finger?
It can, and we would rather say so than pretend otherwise. Copper reacts with the natural acids and salts in skin, and some people get a faint green tint where the metal sits. It is harmless — a mark, not a rash — and it washes off with soap and water in a few seconds. It shows up more in warm weather, and more if you wear it with hand cream or perfume on. If you'd rather avoid it altogether, a thin coat of clear nail lacquer painted inside the band reduces it considerably, and can be redone whenever it wears away.
Does copper jewellery help with aches, joints or circulation?
No. Randomised, placebo-controlled trials have looked at exactly this and found no effect. We won't tell you otherwise to make a sale. Buy this because it is a solid nickel-free metal that looks lovely on a hand and goes on without a fight — those parts are true.
How do I adjust it?
Hold the band between finger and thumb at the two ends of the gap and ease them gently apart or together. Small movements, a little at a time. It takes a few seconds and you can do it as often as you like — that is what the open coil is for.
It's gone darker. Have I ruined it?
Not at all. Copper develops a warm patina as it's worn, and a lot of people come to prefer it — it settles into the engraved flowers and makes the pattern read more clearly. If you'd rather have the bright finish back, a soft cloth with a little lemon juice and salt brings it up in a minute, then rinse and dry.
