THE SWAP
Switching to a gold-tone or silver-tone one instead
The colour changes; the construction doesn't. Tone means plated, plated means a base metal, and that base metal is where nickel usually sits. You've changed the top layer and nothing else.
THE PATCH-UP
Painting clear varnish inside an old bracelet
It's a sound trick and it does buy you time — but on a plated piece you're sealing over a problem rather than removing it, and the varnish chips first exactly where the band rubs. Worth doing. Not worth relying on.

How Trove is made
Pierced, one leaf at a time
Each opening is cut into the band by hand with a piercing saw rather than punched out by a press. That's why no two leaves are quite identical, and why the edges are filed smooth rather than left sharp.
Light on the wrist
Taking metal out is what gives the piece its weight — or rather its lack of it. It sits lightly, and air gets to the skin underneath instead of a solid band sealing it in.
Solid copper, open back
99.9% pure copper with nothing plated on top. The band is open behind the wrist and gently springy: slide it on, adjust it with your fingers, and it stays where you put it.

Common questions
Will it turn my skin green?
It might leave a faint green tint, and we'd rather tell you than have it be a surprise. Copper reacts with the natural acids in your skin — that reaction is what leaves the mark. It's harmless, it's a mark rather than a rash, and it comes off with soap and water in a matter of seconds. Heat, hand cream and perfume all make it more likely. If you'd rather not see it at all, a thin coat of clear lacquer inside the band reduces it a great deal.
Do the cut-outs catch on jumpers?
They shouldn't — every opening is filed and smoothed after it's cut, so the edges are rounded rather than sharp. With very loose knitwear we'd say the same as for any bracelet: it can snag if you're rough with it, so slide your sleeve down rather than shoving your hand through.
How do I clean the openings?
Warm soapy water and an old soft toothbrush gets into the leaves easily. Dry it properly afterwards. Copper darkens into a warm patina as it's worn, which many people like in the cut-outs particularly; a copper polish or lemon juice with a little salt brings the brightness back whenever you want it.
Can I wear it all the time?
Yes. It's solid metal and it takes daily life in its stride. We'd slip it off for showers, swimming and washing up though — soap and chlorine speed up the darkening and make the green tint likelier.
What size should I order?
